COURSE ON THE LAW & PRACTICE OF MARINE INSURANCE

¡ª At the University of Western Ontario from 29.10.08 to 5.11.08

 
This course was probably introduced at the Law School of the University of Western Ontario for the first time. It was part of an optional module on General Insurance conducted by adjunct professor Peter Koh of Vancouver.

The four seminar course covered the basic areas in the law relating to marine insurance:

 
  1. Overview of marine insurance.
  2. Marine risks and perils Insured.
  3. Duties of the assured in relation to sue and labour.
  4. Subrogation and rights of the insurers.
  5. Double insurance, under insurance and over insurance.
  6. Return of premium.
  7. Attachment and duration of risk.
  8. Voyage policies on ship, cargo and freight.
  9. Change of voyage, deviation and delay
